No, they don't hibernate in the classic sense. If the temperature of the room they’re in drops too low for their liking, they’ll become ‘torpid’, which means that their bodies slow down their functions to conserve energy. If you notice your hamster is particularly sluggish and unresponsive, don’t try to jolt him out of it. The room should be at a comfortable temperature, so watch for any cool drafts that could be blowing on their cage. If the room temperature is low, bring it back up to a comfortable range and the hamster should slowly come around.
