A couple other options would be big colorful paperclips hanging from the roof of cage(make sure they dangle when the hamster touches it) and Believe it or not, plain unbuttered popcorn.(hamsters like the crincle crisp crunch of the popcorn at night. It is also perfectly safe to eat.
