We got a teddy bear hamster a week ago. The Crittertrail cage has a cozy area for sleeping and a tube leads to an enclosed wheel (like a ball). The hamster uses the wheel for its bed. It brings bedding material and food up there and poops and pees there too. It sleeps on top of the pile of bedding, food, poop and pee. When it runs on the wheel, all the gunk falls down on top of it! This is unsanitary and I don't want my kids to hold it now! I have cleaned out the wheel 3 days in a row and it keeps doing this. It doesn't use the "bed". Does this sound normal? Is it sick? Pregnant? Just gross?
