hello, i love the site, but im a little bit worried.... i got a Syrian hamster like a week ago, his name is Balu, and i bought a Habitrail Playground Cage, and know that i read this im worried about the fact that its too small, anyway i let Balu run every time i can (usually every day or every two) in a room while i have the door closed and i check on him, plus its hamster proof... the problem with the cage is that it was already expensive enough and here where i live they are very expensive and i cant afford a bigger one (i live in Uruguay the cage was like 50 dollars)... what should i do??

you should get a running wheel that goes in the cage they come in several different colors and variates and most are inexpensive so you wont have 2 worry about cost but dont get one that goes on the outside of the cage my hamster had one and a few weeks ago while he was in it it fell off and he died.

There are several places on the web that will tell you how to make a biggish cage from a plastic storage container. You could probably use those directions to construct something that is bigger and yet cheaper.

I think that you can either add tubes so that your hamster would have tubes to play in or you could find a big tall container that they couldn't climb out of and add bedding and a bunch of cool stuff to it and your hamster would have a bigger cage! Beacause I saw a video on the internet once and they said it worked really well beacause their hamster never got out. :) Write back!!!!!!!!!!!!
