Yo, I've had my hamsters for over a year and they have ever bitten anyone. They also sometimes like to have a tongue-bath from my dog.

I think it depends on what age you get your hamster, and how well you handel them. The Syrian is meant to be one of the most friendly hamsters, but i've been bitten by loads in my job. It's usually if they are frightend or unuse to humans. So i agree with you this article is not completely correct as not all chinese hamsters are viscious!
